Surfing Tour

Day 1: Arrival in Tulear:

Meet and greet at either Tulear Airport or the bus station, followed by a transfer to the base camp hotel with your guide, who will explain how the trip works and share helpful local tips to make your stay enjoyable. Every evening at 6 p.m., we meet on the balcony for a sunset drink, where the next day’s surf destination and departure time will be announced. After sunset, your guide will take you to one of the best restaurants in Tulear.

Days 2 & 3: Tulear:

We surf until the southern wind arrives. On the way back to base camp, depending on conditions, we may also surf at either Joey’s or Pete’s, both of which work offshore with a southerly wind. After surfing, the afternoon is free to explore Tulear or rest your tired arms. Sunset drink at 6 p.m. The forecast looks good for Ifaty–Mangily over the next couple of days, so tonight everyone packs and prepares for an early departure the next morning.

Day 4: Tulear – Ifaty Reef – Mangily:

Early departure. We first head to Googles for a quick surf before continuing to the South Pass at Ifaty Reef, where we surf until the trade winds arrive. Afterward, we settle into our beachfront hotel. Your guide will brief you on Mangily and its best dining spots. Sunset drink at Anne’s on the beach, followed by dinner at Freddy’s.

Day 5: The South Pass and the False Pass:

Early departure to surf one of two reef passes. Depending on conditions, we may surf a powerful right-hander or, if the swell is large, a fast left-hand wave known as the best in the area. After surfing, relax on the beach or at one of the laid-back village bars.

Day 6: Mangily – Ifaty – Googles – Tulear:

Early departure with a surf session at one of the reef passes or at Googles before returning to Tulear base camp in the early afternoon. The rest of the day is free to relax — chances are you’ll be tired after several days of surfing.

Day 7: Tulear – Free Day (Flat Conditions):

The forecast is poor, so today is free for relaxation. The boat remains available for snorkeling or fishing on the Tulear reef, or you may simply relax. Sunset drink at 6 p.m. A large swell is expected in the south, so preparations begin to head south the next day.

Day 8: Tulear – Sarodrano:

Early departure for Sarodrano, where we will surf and stay for two days. We may surf Jammies or Outers on the way before settling into our beachfront bungalows. After surfing, explore this peaceful paradise. In the evening, enjoy a drink with Manjaka, the village president and owner of the accommodations.

Day 9: Outers Session:

Early morning surf at Inners, Outers, or Jammies. When the trade winds arrive, and depending on swell conditions, we head to TTs, Mussolini’s, or Seconds for a classic session. The swell is expected to drop, so we plan to head to Anakao tomorrow.

Day 10: Sarodrano – Anakao:

Very early departure for Anakao, where we will surf and stay for the next three days. Along the way, we check out Seconds and Flameballs before settling into beachfront bungalows north of the main fishing village. Depending on conditions, we surf or explore the village. Sunset briefing on the beach for the next day’s plan.

Days 11 & 12: Anakao:

Depending on winds and tides, we may surf Jelly Babies early, then head to Flameballs, or reverse the order. After surfing, relax on the beach before our nightly sunset aperitif to plan the following day.

Day 13: Anakao – Tulear:

We pack and say goodbye to Anakao. We surf our way back toward Tulear at the best breaks available, possibly stopping overnight in Sarodrano depending on conditions. Sunset wherever we are, followed by a briefing for the next day.

Day 14: Tulear:

Back in Tulear. We may head to Dawnie or Googles for a session. On the return, we check Joey’s and Pete’s for another surf if conditions allow. Tonight is the farewell dinner and final celebrations.

Day 15: Departure:

Depending on your departure time — and energy levels — you may enjoy one last surf before transfer to the airport or bus station for your onward journey, taking home unforgettable memories. Many guests return, so it’s often “see you again” rather than goodbye.
