KIRINDY TOUR
Day 1: Antananarivo – Antsirabe
Meet at the airport and depart for Antsirabe. Stop at Ambatolampy to visit a workshop producing various kitchen utensils made from aluminum, bronze, and other materials. Then continue to Antsirabe. Upon arrival, transfer to the hotel. Dinner and overnight stay.
Day 2: Antsirabe
Full-day visit of the city and its surroundings. First, drive west toward the village of Betafo. From there, enjoy a 10-minute off-road drive before leaving the vehicle and beginning a pleasant walk through small villages and plantations. Meet local people and observe their daily activities while enjoying panoramic views and a small waterfall. Approximately a 3-hour walk. On the way back, glimpse the peaceful Lake Andraikiba. Dinner and overnight at the hotel.
Day 3: Antsirabe – Miandrivazo
After breakfast, head southwest for about 220 km on a good road. Picnic lunch en route. Upon arrival in Miandrivazo, transfer to the hotel and enjoy a free evening. Dinner and overnight at the hotel.
Day 4 to 6: Down the Tsiribihina River by Pirogue
Spend three days on an adventure down the Tsiribihina River in a traditional wooden pirogue. Departure is from the northern side of Miandrivazo. Navigation lasts about 6–7 hours per day. Each night, tents are set up along the riverbanks. Dinner and overnight camping with the crew. Stunning and varied scenery awaits you throughout the cruise.
Day 7: Tsiraraka – Belo-sur-Tsiribihina – Bekopaka
In the village of Tsiraraka, leave the pirogues and meet your off-road vehicle. Drive to Belo-sur-Tsiribihina after crossing the river by ferry. Lunch in Belo before continuing toward Bekopaka. The rest of the day is devoted to this long journey along bush tracks toward the Tsingy. Upon arrival in Bekopaka, dinner and overnight at the hotel.
Day 8: Small Tsingy and the Manambolo Gorge
In the morning, begin exploring the Tsingy. First, take boats to visit caves in the Manambolo Gorge with impressive stalactites. Then continue walking in the park to see stalagmites and the dramatic limestone formations with sharp peaks. Picnic lunch. Dinner and overnight at the hotel.
Day 9: Grand Tsingy
Visit the Great Tsingy, located 17 km from Bekopaka and reachable by car. Accompanied by your guide and equipped with safety harnesses, explore the site using walkways and wooden bridges integrated into the landscape. Picnic lunch. Dinner and overnight at the hotel.
Day 10: Bekopaka – Kirindy
Morning departure from Bekopaka, returning via Belo and crossing the river by ferry to reach the Kirindy Forest. Upon arrival, check in at the lodge. Later, enjoy a two-hour night walk in the dry forest to search for nocturnal lemurs, reptiles, owls, and nightjars. If lucky, you may spot the famous fossa, Madagascar’s largest carnivorous mammal. Dinner and overnight at the forest camp.
Day 11: Kirindy – Morondava
After breakfast, return to the forest to see two species of diurnal lemurs, birds, mammals, reptiles, and diverse flora, including precious woods and medicinal plants. After the visit, leave Kirindy and rejoin the main track. Stop at the Avenue of the Baobabs, home to three baobab species from the Menabe region, including the famous “Lovers’ Baobab.” Continue to Morondava. Upon arrival, check in, dinner, and overnight at a seaside hotel.
Day 12: Morondava – Belo-sur-Mer
Morning transfer by boat to Belo-sur-Mer. Upon arrival, transfer to the hotel. Day at leisure. Dinner and overnight at the hotel.
Day 13: Belo-sur-Mer
Day at leisure. Dinner and overnight at the hotel.
Day 14: Belo-sur-Mer – Morondava – Antananarivo
Transfer by boat to Morondava, then drive to the airport for your flight to Antananarivo. Upon arrival, meet and transfer to the hotel. Dinner and overnight stay.
Day 15: Antananarivo
Discover Antananarivo and its traditional markets. Excursion to Ambohimanga, about 28 km northwest of the capital, to visit the Summer Palace, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Pass through many “tamboho,” the old defensive walls made of red earth. Later, dinner before transferring to the airport for your international flight.
