Classical Tour in Ifaty
Day 1: Antananarivo (Breakfast)
Meet and greet at Antananarivo Airport by GMT+3 staff, then transfer to your hotel in the city.
Day 2: Antananarivo – Antsirabe (170 km / approx. 3 hrs) (Dinner/Breakfast)
After breakfast, depart for Antsirabe, passing through beautiful landscapes of rice fields and highland villages. Stop in Ambatolampy to visit the aluminum workshops where craftsmen produce a range of handmade items. Continue to Antsirabe. Upon arrival, check in at your hotel and have lunch before touring the town by car and discovering local handicrafts.
Day 3: Antsirabe – Ambositra – Ranomafana (280 km / approx. 6 hrs) (Dinner/Breakfast)
After breakfast, visit workshops specializing in Malagasy sweets, bicycles, miniature pousse-pousse, and gemstones. Then travel to Ambositra, the capital of Malagasy woodcraft, famous for marquetry and sculptures made from precious woods such as rosewood. After lunch, visit additional workshops before continuing toward Ranomafana. Leave the highlands and enter the rainforest zone. Upon arrival, check in at your hotel and enjoy a nocturnal walk before dinner.
Day 4: Ranomafana National Park – Fianarantsoa (70 km / approx. 1 hr 30 min) (Dinner/Breakfast)
After breakfast, visit Ranomafana National Park to discover its rich fauna and flora. You may see several species of lemurs, including bamboo lemurs and the rare diademed sifaka, as well as birds, orchids, chameleons, butterflies, frogs, and other wildlife.
After the visit, have lunch, explore the thermal town of Ranomafana, and then depart for Fianarantsoa. Upon arrival, tour the old town, admire the scenery, and check in at your hotel.
Day 5: Fianarantsoa – Ambalavao – Ranohira / Isalo National Park (370 km / approx. 6 hrs) (Dinner/Breakfast)
After breakfast, depart for Ranohira via the colonial town of Ambalavao, known for its architecture, Antemoro paper, and silk production. Visit Anja Reserve to see lemurs, orchids, and traditional tombs, then cross the Horombe Plateau with its vast grassy plains. Upon arrival in Ranohira, check in at your hotel.
Day 6: Ranohira / Isalo (Dinner/Breakfast)
After breakfast, transfer to the park entrance to explore its fauna and flora. The Isalo Massif is a sandstone plateau dating from the Jurassic period, shaped by erosion into deep canyons and sandy valleys, creating spectacular landscapes.
Today’s visit includes the Canyon des Singes (Monkey Canyon) and the Namaza site. You will enjoy panoramic views of cliffs, rice fields, and gorges. Discover the ancient royal village, royal enclosure, sacred pools, royal tombs, and Bara burial sites. During the hike, observe lush vegetation, rainforest species, lemurs, birds, butterflies, and reptiles.
Day 7: Ranohira / Isalo – Tuléar – Ifaty (280 km / approx. 6 hrs) (Dinner/Breakfast)
Travel across the Horombe Plateau past Ilakaka, known as the “Sapphire Village,” then continue to Tuléar through arid desert landscapes. Along the way, observe the Mahafaly tombs decorated with carved Aloalo totems. Upon arrival in Tuléar, have lunch before continuing to Ifaty along a sandy coastal road. Check in at your hotel.
Day 8: Ifaty (Dinner/Breakfast)
Free day to explore Ifaty and its surroundings, including the Reniala Reserve with its dry forest, baobabs, and birdlife. Optional activities include snorkeling and whale watching (July–October), or simply relaxing on the beach.
Day 9: Ifaty – Tuléar – Antananarivo (30 km / approx. 1 hr 15 min + 1 hr 15 min flight) (Dinner/Breakfast)
Transfer to Tuléar Airport for your flight to Antananarivo. Upon arrival, meet your guide and transfer to your hotel for lunch. In the afternoon, visit the old city to learn more about Merina history and the heritage of Madagascar. Enjoy panoramic views of Antananarivo, see the Queen’s Palace (under renovation), visit Andafiavaratra Palace, which houses objects saved from the palace fire of 1995, and explore Andohalo Square, the oldest square in the city. Transfer back to your hotel after the visit.
Day 10: Antananarivo
Today, visit Ambohimanga, located 25 km north of the city and known as the “Blue Hill.” This UNESCO World Heritage Site is one of the twelve sacred hills preserving much of Merina and Malagasy history. Discover royal houses dating from 1871 and their historic surroundings, and observe rural Madagascar along the route.
After the visit, stop at the handicraft market for souvenirs before returning to your hotel. After dinner, transfer to the airport for your international departure flight.
