Sambava Camping Tour

Sambava

Day 1: FLY FROM Antananarivo TO Sambava

Fly from Antananarivo to Sambava. Upon arrival, you will be picked up and transferred to your hotel. Enjoy a free walk around Sambava on your own.

Day 2: TREK TO THE CAMPSITE WITH A LOCAL GUIDE

After breakfast, you will be transferred to the park gate and begin your walk to Camp Mantella (Camp 1), approximately 10 km, taking around 4 to 5 hours depending on your pace. However, this is usually wildlife-watching time, not a race. A night walk may be possible depending on the weather and your interest.

Day 3: CONTINUE TREKKING TO THE NEXT CAMPSITE WITH A LOCAL GUIDE

After breakfast, you can take an early short walk to the Cascade de Humbert, around 2 km round trip from the camp, lasting about 1 hour and 30 minutes. This is a beautiful waterfall.

Afterward, continue trekking to Camp Marojejy (Camp 2). The trail becomes steeper, and the final 20 minutes are more challenging. Lunch will be taken at the campsite.

After lunch, depending on the weather, you may continue toward Camp Simpona (Camp 3) in search of the silky sifaka. The trail is now very steep, and spotting the sifakas sometimes requires leaving the main trail briefly.

Day 4: Marojejy National Park TO SAMBAVA

Early in the morning, after breakfast, begin the walk back down to the village. A picnic lunch is planned, even if taken later in the afternoon. A vehicle will meet you and transfer you back to Sambava.

Day 5: FLY FROM SAMBAVA TO TANA

After breakfast, transfer to the airport for your flight from Sambava to Tana.
